Cheers to Strong Women 2019:

Week 2

As we head into Week 2 of our Cheers to Strong Women campaign, we are already so thrilled at how many awesome ladies have followed along and chosen great organizations for sales proceeds to go to. We are so excited to introduce you to this week’s inspiring and super cool women. Let’s keep this badass lady momentum going all February long!

Tamara Day

1. Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Tamara Day, I’m an interior decorator, television host of DIY Network’s Bargain Mansions, business owner of Growing Days, and mother. On DIY Network’s Bargain Mansions, my crew and I renovate big, old houses that I find at bargain prices. While respecting the integrity and history of the homes, I try to integrate modern design, function and style to the space – perfect for today’s families. Back home, I have 4 wonderful kids! To say my life is busy would be a huge understatement!! I try to take life day by day :)

2. What does being a strong woman mean to you?

A strong woman following her dreams and is not afraid of how big those dreams are. A strong woman will keep pushing through and persevere. She knows how to manage her time , so work is not always taking priority over family time. Sometimes there are long nights. Even when times are hard, she doesn’t quit. She chooses to make wise business choices in order to move forward in her business.

3. What advice would you give to the teenage version of yourself?

Finish what you started!! You will always regret not finishing something that you started! Quitting is not an option! I also wish that my teenage self had known that I could be a designer. Growing up on a farm and in small town, I had no idea a design career path was even an option! I think Pinterest and Instagram are great positive ways to help people find their passion. You can easily look at your social media feeds and see what someone is drawn to. If social media was a thing back when I was a teenager, my life would have unfolded very differently!

4. Name a woman in your life that has inspired you to be the woman you are today.

I have two people- My mom and Grandma. My mom was always creative and held down the fort. When money was tight, my mom always pleasant and had a smile on her face. She was always waiting for us after school with homemade cookies or pie. She always chose to put us first and has shaped how I am as a mother. My grandmother was the most creative woman I’ve ever known. She lived out in the middle of nowhere, but she was constantly creating and making things. Both my mom and grandma were always letting me be creative and explore. They never said no when I wanted to cook with them and make a mess. Even if I was just pouring ingredients into a bowl and making a mess with my hands, they would let that happen!

5. Tell me a fact, secret, or something weird you do.

I can wiggle my ears and wave with one toe! A secret fun fact is that one of my goals in life is to live in New York City with my family for at least 3 months in the summer when it’s hot! I would love to show my family what it’s like to live there for an extended amount of time!

6. What is your favorite piece from Sierra Winter Jewelry?

My favorite piece is the Mama Necklace! I also love the Sidekick Earrings!

7. What is one of your favorite organizations that supports and encourages strong women?

My favorite organization is Zoe’s House Adoption Agency. It supports strong women in difficult decisions. Zoe’s house educates moms on how they can keep their children and  assists moms who want to make a choice of life for their child. This organization is near and dear to my heart!

Bridget Everett

1. Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Bridget Everett and I'm a performer/writer/actor. I started out as a cabaret singer and now do TV and movies.

2. What does being a strong woman mean to you?

Knowing who you are and what you want and going for it. And always being true to myself.

3. What advice would you give to the teenage version of yourself?

Trim the fat. Get rid of anyone in your life who isn't rooting for you. And dream bigger. Why not?

4. Name a woman in your life that has inspired you to be the woman you are today.

My mom. There is no one funnier than my mom. I've never met anyone like her. Funny, curious, sometimes a little mean and always very sensitive. She is completely one of a kind and totally herself.  People love her in spite of her flaws because she is who she is.

5. Tell me a fact, secret, or something weird you do.

I wear my headphones almost everywhere I go even when I'm not listening to anything because I hate small talk so much.

6. What is your favorite piece from Sierra Winter Jewelry?

Hard to pick but I'd have to say the gold Diamond Back Earrings and the Mama Necklace.

7. What is one of your favorite organizations that supports and encourages strong women?

Planned Parenthood. Still out there fighting the good fight!
