JEWELRY CARE:

A Guide To Keeping Jewelry Fresh

We want the best for the things we love, and that includes our jewelry. In order to keep your jewels looking their best, we've got some tips and guidance for ya.

 1. TARNISH HAPPENS

Sterling Silver and Gold Vermeil will tarnish. Oxidation is natural and is caused by many things such as exposure to air, our environment, and the chemical make up of our bodies. #SCIENCE. To protect your jewelry from exposure to air, we suggest keeping it in air-tight plastic bags when not being worn. If plastic bag storage is not realistic, keep it in a closed jewelry box. (Double points for doing both!)

To polish your jewelry, wipe it down with a damp cloth or give it some loving with one of our polishing cloths. You can purchase one HERE. We also have fun jewelry boxes available HERE.

In a note at checkout, let us know if you want some baggies! We are happy to include them for you!

2. BEAUTY FIRST, JEWELRY SECOND

We full on support your beauty routines & self-care moments. Buuut... be mindful of the impact that those things can have on your jewelry while doing them. Chemicals/components in your makeup, lotion, soaps, oils, and hair products will tarnish jewelry and residue will build up, making your sparkly jewels very dull.

Our advice: put on your jewels as the last step of your beauty routine.

3. JEWELRY ISN'T A TOY, FOLKS

It kinda goes without saying, but keep jewels away from your fur babies and tiny tots. Cats & toddlers alike love to grab a shiny object, and dogs will put literally anything in their mouths. That said, they can all break jewelry fairly easily without even meaning to. Keep jewelry put away and out of reach when it's not being worn. And when it is, beware of any unwanted grabbing.

We do, however, fully support photoshopping jewelry onto your pets.

4. SWEAT & SOAK SANS JEWELS

Leave your beloved jewels at home while working out, hanging out at the pool, and tending to your garden. Sweat, dirt, chlorine, and sunscreen are all things your jewelry is not a fan of. *Especially* chlorine. You may want to look like Rihanna wearing layers of diamonds poolside but trust me, her jewelry hates it.

We often get asked if it's okay to shower or bathe with jewelry on. For best preservation of your jewelry, we advise against it.

WE SWEAR WE ONLY PUT THIS JEWELRY ON FOR THE PHOTO OPP THEN TOOK IT OFF. Do not get us in trouble.

5. PACK IT UP

Traveling can take a toll on your jewelry. When you are road tripping, jet-setting, or taking your jewelry from work to the gym, keep it organized and separated to avoid a tangled nightmare. Keeping jewelry separated will also prevent metals from rubbing up against one another and scratching. (Let us again reference the airtight baggies & jewelry case!)

Thumbs up for organized, shiny jewels! *so fresh and so clean, clean*
